We recognise and accept responsibility as an employer for providing a safe and healthy working environment for all our employees and to avoid risks to the health and safety of others who may be affected by our activities.
We are members of CHAS an established market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK along with Constructionline which has the UK’s largest certified pre-qualification database, this reduces duplication and saves time and money by encouraging organisations to use a single source for pre-qualification.
At Hillside Contracts Ltd all Contracts Managers have successfully completed the 5 day SMSTS training course and similarly our Site Supervisors have all completed the 2 day SSSTS training course.
All employed floorlayers hold the appropriate CSCS cards to enforce their Health & Safety awareness along with NVQ Level 2 qualification.
We have been awarded a Platinum Award from the CSCS for our commitment to improving competence in construction.
Site Supervisors actively carry out toolbox talks with our teams to ensure continued awareness of Health & Safety and Environmental procedures on site.
We employ a full time Health & Safety Co-ordinator along with a NEBOSH qualified Safety Advisor as well as using the services of an external management company, WA Management Training.
We employ our own qualified PAT testing engineer to enable us to keep control of our portable electrical equipment used by operatives on site.
Our waste is recycled where possible using the scheme Recofloor . The scheme accepts uplifted vinyl flooring and post-installation off-cuts. Vinyl flooring material is collected in bags and either picked up by Recofloor or dropped off at any participating flooring distributor or Recofloor drop-off site, located across the UK. Hillside Contracts are a participating drop off site.
The recycled flooring is either used to manufacturer new flooring or used to make traffic management products such as traffic cones and road sign bases.
